2000-11-19 - 8:31pm On the internal soundtrack: "I'll Be Home for Christmas" NOTE TO GOOGLE USERS: If you got here searching on "Josie Moran", try "Josie Maran" and you'll have much better luck. There are some nice pictures of her here. This entry got started on Friday and never really went anywhere. Oh well. Figured I'd post it as-is and do better on Monday. My internet connection at work has been down all day. Apparently the problem is with the ISP gateway, not us. I can hardly stand it. I knew I was addicted to the internet, but it's worse than I thought. The thing that bugs me the most is not that I can't read my journals, but that I can't look up information when I want to. Poindexter calls me an "information junkie" and he's right. Here's what I've wanted to look up today: --- Model Josie Moran (sp?), who according to Poindexter was causing tied tongues on Howard this morning. Whether Sears.com has the replacement wicks for our bedroom humidifier. Where exactly Beaufort, SC is and information about it. The name of the Italian restaurant in Georgetown with the Pasta Mammas, because Poindexter wanted to suggest it to a coworker. The number of the train my brother will arrive on tonight --- It's a little scary to think of how valuable the internet is to me. All those things that used to be done by calling people on the phone during business hours only can now be accomplished 24 hours a day. It boggles the mind. Things I would have to wander about the library searching for are now only a few keystrokes away. I walked to the bank today (about 3/4 mile from the office) to deposit paychecks and get some cash. It was SO FUCKING WINDY. I hate wind in the winter. Makes me so cranky. I'm grateful for it in the summer, though, when it makes the heat slightly more tolerable.
